Please view the following video on managing your classes on Rouxbe. Click the expand icon in the lower right corner of the video frame for optimal viewing.
The text and images below the video frame display the same information in the video, but in a different format.
1. HOW TO VIEW STUDENTS' PROGRESS
The Admin area allows you to view a student's progress through a lesson, a course, and other assessable tasks, such as quizzes, final exams, and activities.
To access the Reporting Tool from your Admin area, select the Student Enrollments tab.
Next, find a student using the filters and click Requery. Next, click directly on the student's name to open their Course Progress information for that course. There are two options.
Course Progress displays how many tasks have been completed and when.
Click Assessable Tasks to see scores. To view a summary, click View Student Assessment Summary.
2. HOW TO RESET A STUDENT'S QUIZ
Your Admin area contains features that allow you to quickly and easily reset a student's quiz or learning activity (so the student doesn't have to go through the Rouxbe Supreme Court appeal process). This option is available in the Course Progress / Assessable Tasks area—it is a black button that says "Reset Assessment."
Start at the Student Enrollments page and locate the student's name (search email address or part of the student's name and click "Requery" (blue arrow on screenshot below).
There will be one entry for each course or lesson the student is enrolled in. Find the course that contains the task that needs resetting. Click directly on the student's name for that course (red arrow).
On the Course Progress page, click Assessable Tasks. Click Reset Assessment for the task that needs to be redone.
Keep in mind that resetting an assessment only works if the course or lesson is "In Progress." If a student has failed a course, you will need to purge their course progress, which resets the particular course or lesson so the student can start over.
3. HOW TO PURGE A STUDENT'S COURSE PROGRESS
To reset a student's course or lesson, navigate to the student's information page (click the name of the class the student is in, then click on the student's name).
On the Course Progress page, click the title of the course you want to reset.
At the top of the page, click Purge Course Progress.
The course will be reset so the student can start over.
For students with existing accounts, the method below shows you how to easily transfer students from one class to another.
First, click Admin at the top of your Rouxbe dashboard. Click the Students tab and select the student's name that you would like to move.
Under Class Information, use the dropdown bar to select the correct class, then click Confirm.
From there, you will see the student listed under the correct class.
5. HOW TO REMOVE A CLASS
Select the class you wish to delete from the Classes tab.
Click Class Settings in the upper right corner.
On the Class Settings page, scroll down and click "Additional Settings." When the additional settings options appear, click Cancel Class. This will not only delete the class, but all the students registered to that class.
The class won't disappear immediately, in order to allow a teacher one week to cancel the request. (This is a safety measure to prevent the wrong class or students being deleted by mistake.)
6. HOW TO USE THE GRADEBOOK FEATURE
To use the Gradebook feature, you must first assign content to your students via the Manage Curriculum feature. If you did not assign curriculum this way originally, you can update it at any time, and then you will be able to use the Gradebook (see the video in this article for more information: Instructor Admin Guide: Getting Started
Grades can be exported to a Comma Separated File (CSV), which then can be opened in most spreadsheet applications as well as imported to other systems like Canvas.
To export grades first select the class:
Next click on the Gradebook:
Next 'View Grades' for the course you want to export grades from:
On the Grades page click the 'Export to CSV' link on the bottom left:
This will initiate a CSV export and prompt you to choose where you want to download the file. Once downloaded it will be ready to use.
The export will contain common data for the given course. If you intend on importing the data to a 3rd party system like Canvas you may need to modify the columns. To learn more please see our article on How to Import Grades to 3rd Party Service.
The next step for a teacher would be to look and check to see what we have just added as course content show up from the student view... How do we look form this point to be sure the content we have just added is visible to the student?
