Professional Cook Certification - Course Orientation

We are excited to welcome you to the Professional Cook Certification course! 

Once you purchase the course, you can start anytime. Once you enter the course, your 9 month timeline will begin. You will have full access to the entire course content to work on at your own pace. There are no specific days or times that you are required to be online and no specific due dates for your assignments. The only stipulation is that you must complete the course requirements within 9 months of starting. 

You can find the expected graduation date listed on your Dashboard at the bottom of your course tile. If you need more time, just ask! We grant one free 30-day extension upon request.

You will find your course on your Rouxbe dashboard. Just click the ENROLLED COURSES tab. 

Getting Started — Click the Start Course bar and you’ll be taken to the Course Home View. If you are new to Rouxbe be sure to start with the Platform Tour to familiarize yourself with the course structure you’ll be working in.

When you’re ready, dive into Task 1. The first several tasks are text to help orient you. The course structure will walk you through everything else as you go! Remember, this is a self-paced course so you can begin and pause at any time. Most students report spending 10-12 hours per week to stay on pace to complete the course within 9 months.

Your equipment list, found HERE, outlines which items are needed throughout the course. While not all will be used right away it’s important to have them available when the lesson requires. To get started, make sure you have the following:

• Sharp knife and cutting board
• Sturdy sauté pan and large pot
• Set of 8 small bowls for your mise en place.

Live Events — These events are intended to complement your course experience and are voluntary. If you cannot attend a live event, they will be recorded and available for archive viewing within a few hours. Access a live or recorded event by clicking the Live Events tab at the top right of your dashboard. 

As a reminder, this 9-month course is self-paced and available to you 24/7—so you can begin and pause at any time. Plan on spending 12-15 hours every week to stay on pace.
