If a student fails a course, you have two options:
- Reactivate the course so the student can continue working on it. This option retains all previous course progress.
- Purge course progress, which erases all activity so the student must start over.
Start at the Student Enrollments page and locate the student's name (search email address or part of the student's name and click "Requery" (blue arrow on screenshot below).
There will be one entry for each course or lesson the student is enrolled in. Find the failed course and click directly on the student's name for that course (red arrow).
On the Course Progress page, select RESET ENROLLMENT to reactivate the course and all progress so the student can access it again.
OR
Select PURGE COURSE PROGRESS to reset the entire course, including all previous work in that course.

This is really helpful for managing student progress. Just to confirm—once reactivated, does the student retain their previous progress, or do they have to start over?
Hi Glenn,
Yes, when you reactivate the course, the student can simply continue working on it. Reactivating the course retains all previous course progress.
Thanks, this is really useful for tracking student progress. Just to clarify—when a student is reactivated, do they keep their past progress, or is it reset?
When you click RESET ENROLLMENT, it simply reactivates the course, as well as all past progress. Basically, it returns the course state to “Active” instead of “failed”).
Thanks for the clear instructions. The step-by-step explanation makes it easy to understand how to reactivate a student’s failed course, especially the reminder about permissions and enrollment status. This is very helpful for instructors managing student progress.
