As the school year draws to a close, teachers face the task of wrapping up their classes, ensuring that all loose ends are tied and students are prepared for the next academic school year. At Rouxbe, we understand the importance of streamlining this process for educators. This guide will cover the options a teacher has to manage their classes at the end of the school year.
We encourage you to pick an option that best aligns with your school's privacy policies in terms of whether you decide to keep a student registered or remove them after they complete their course year.
These options are available on the Class Settings page for each class. Below is a screenshot of how to access the Class Settings page.
Reset Class - this action is the most commonly used end-of-year option as it removes students from a class and retains all of their course completions and coursework. The students will still be registered at the school, but not assigned to a class. Typically, this option is used when you know that students will be returning the next academic year and placed into a new class, yet you also want to keep their existing progress.
Purging class progress will reset the course enrollments for each student in the class and remove all coursework. The students will stay in the class but each of their courses will be reset. Typically this option is used when a class is returning the following academic year to re-take the existing curriculum for that class.
Cancel Class - This is the nuclear option as this option will remove the class, students in the class, as well as all student progress for the class. It essentially is a complete wipeout of the class and related resources. This means if a student is returning the next academic year, they will need to re-register. This option is not recoverable so please be sure that you intend to completely purge the class and students before choosing this option.
